Peace in Aging

I turned 38 this week. And things are changing while they stay the same. I do not feel older, but I do feel more grateful. I watch how my children are eager for immediate gratification and simple pleasures. They forget to be thankful. I think most children do.

Today, as I think about what age has brought me, I’m most thankful that I can remember gratitude.

Today, I will spend the better part of the day on chores. Simple tasks. Cleaning up, tidying, scrubbing a few toilets, gardening. The children see my list as tasks/chores/annoyances. Yet, I am completely grateful. A day at home, working on things that improve our lives is simply wonderful.

I’m pretty sure I have age to thank for it.

I find peace in these simple realizations. And I continue to be grateful.
