Most people who know me well know that I love yoga. Through and through, without a doubt, I believe that yoga is not just good for the mind, but good for the body, too. And I don’t know about you, but if something is good for me, it’s probably good for my kids, too. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
Naturally, since I love yoga and feel that it has enriched my life so much, my children think yoga is some or all of the following:
(1) stupid
(2) boring
(3) useless
(4) too slow
(5) uninteresting
(6) a waste of time
BUT, my kids might also use any of these descriptors to explain other important things in our world, such as chores, homework, hard work, challenges, daily tasks, and being kind to their siblings.
This is to say that some practices take a little getting used to. We introduce our kiddos to something that might stick later.
So, naturally, I encourage you to bride, threaten, or force your kids to come practice yoga with us!
Teaching kids about the benefits of yoga is fun and has the potential to show them a calmer, more focused, and peaceful approach to life. There’s a pretty good chance they will not leave yoga feeling as super duper wonderful as you.
But there’s also a chance they will LOVE it! There’s a chance they will feel intrigued. There is a pretty good chance they’ll love feeling connected to YOU and something you’ve come to enjoy.
It’s true that my kids truly don’t love yoga as much as I do. BUT, they see me doing it and practice with me some of the time. Laying a foundation for something that may help them later in life is important, don’t you think?
Even if mine don’t, there are LOTS of kids who just LOVE yoga and seek it out regularly. You’ll never know which kind of kid is yours until you give family yoga a try.
If you’d like to try a family-fun slow flow introduction to partnered yoga, COME ON OUT! I’m offering a great time, fun music, and a change from your regular vinyasa class.
Kindly reserve your space in advance. And as always, namaste every day!
