Peace in Nature

There is peace all around. I write about peace because it took me so long to find. I was nervous, anxious, and constantly uncomfortable. I couldn’t relax or sit still. I couldn’t be myself or feel right.

Ever.

Now, I find a tree or a lake or a walking path and my heart rests.

I force myself to make it to the lake near our house for a walk. Even if I only have time for 20 minutes. It’s worth it.

The hardest part is remembering it’s a choice. Choices are active decisions. They take thought and maybe a little planning.

Today, my choice was peace. Not finishing all my chores. Not tidying the basement. Not mopping the floors. Not organizing the pantry (oye, I should find time for that!), and not sending those emails….

Maybe I’ve become a slacker. But I’m more relaxed. I’m more patient, and I’m more peaceful. Those things count for a lot, if you ask me.

What brought you peace this week? Share the peace!
