For a long time, I tried to get into meditation. For some reason, I saw myself immersed in meditation enough to enjoy the practice a few times a week. I have read tons of books and listened to many podcasts, all of which seemed to say, “If you want a better, fuller, happier, more content life, you NEED meditation.”
Whenever someone tells me I need something, I can be pretty skeptical.
But I digress…..
I tired meditating for a long time until I learned the truth:
MEDITATION IS NOT THAT HARD!
Ok, it is hard……but it’s like anything else. It’s hard until it’s not hard anymore. It’s hard until you commit and turn practice into a priority.
A lot of the time, the hardest part about meditating is: finding the time to meditate.
But I woke up one day and told myself I could do it. I said, “Self, you got this. You can totally sit and meditate.” Being the self that I am, I hesitated and instead of spending time meditating, I spent time researching. I dug into various forms of meditation. I quickly discovered that meditation does not have to be just me sitting on a pillow, staring into space, waiting for the minutes to tick by.
Meditation can be guided. And when I make the time, I feel GREAT afterward.
Furthermore, like anything else in life, we can start with baby steps. I love these 5 minute guided meditations online. Click below to learn more.
After 5-minute meditations start to feel really glorious, you can advance to longer lengths! Happy trials, friends!
